More about me:

I am a sociologist, currently completing a PhD with a focus on reputation systems online. My default career direction has been academic research for some time, but of late I have also been considering software engineering the non-profit/charitable sector. Politically I lean to the left (social democrat). My academic interests lie in the direction of social theory and its application. I am an effective altruist because I am passionate both about making the world a better place (through reducing suffering) but also about using empirical evidence and rational thinking to identify the most effective strategies for doing so.
